Flaunter launches the 2018 Emerging Australian Designer campaign – the only digital showcase bringing together the country’s most talented fashion design students in one location.

Flaunter’s 2018 Emerging Australian Designer Showcase [‘Flaunter Emerging’] launches today as the only platform of its kind to support emerging Australian fashion talent.
Flaunter Emerging works with schools, universities and colleges to support final year fashion design students in building their public profiles and showcasing their work to Australia’s expansive media network.
For journalists, stylists and the fashion industry-at-large the campaign provides a unique opportunity to discover Australia’s most talented new designers in one central, online location.
Now in its fourth year, the digital showcase will feature collection imagery from more than 100 of the top final year students from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology [RMIT], TAFE Fashion Design Studio, Queensland University of Technology [QUT], University of Technology, Sydney [UTS], Whitehouse Institute of Design, Raffles College of Design & Commerce and North Metropolitan TAFE.

Each year we invite an esteemed panel of guest judges to review the student collections and each select 5 ‘Designers To Watch’. Some of the previous panels have included Toni Maticevski, Pip Edwards & Claire Tregoning [P.E Nation], Rebecca Khoury [10 Magazine], Amanda Shadforth [Oracle Fox], Ali Izzo [Harper’s Bazaar] and Emma Read [L’Officiel].
This year, we are also thrilled to announce that 5 designers will be selected from the Flaunter Emerging Designer Showcase and given automatic entry into the Top 10 finalists for St.George Project NextGen to be in the running to be one of four winners that will participate in a fully produced runway show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia 2019.

Anna Plunkett, Romance Was Born, 2016 Guest Judge: “We know what it’s like to start out, so we love to support up and coming designers. Luke and I haven’t had the experience of working for other brands before so we rely a lot on our instincts when it comes to design. For us it’s about providing some insight into our business so we can help young designers understand their own brand DNA.”
Rachel O’Brien, 2017 graduating student, UTS: “Flaunter was an incredible platform to receive industry feedback and recognition so soon after graduating. The judge’s feedback shed new light and ideas on my work that I had perhaps been previously too close to recognise.”
