The Flaunter Emerging Designer campaign showcases collections by 100 top graduates from Australia’s leading fashion schools. The 2018 participants are an incredibly talented bunch, making it the toughest year ever for our judges to pick their top 5 ‘designers to watch’.
Today, we reveal the finalists as selected by Akira Isogawa, acclaimed Australian fashion designer of the eponymous womenswear label Akira. Known for his fusion of Japanese tradition with Australian ease, Akira’s collections draw upon his devotion to textile design, using techniques such as shibori, origami, embroidery, printing and hand painting.
As one of our country’s most loved and celebrated designers, we couldn’t wait to find out what Akira thought of this year’s graduate designers.
