Flaunter launches 2017 Emerging Australian Designer campaign – the only digital showcase bringing together the country’s most talented fashion design students in one location.
Flaunter’s 2017 Emerging Australian Designer Showcase [‘Flaunter Emerging’] launches today as the only platform of its kind to support emerging Australian fashion talent.
Flaunter Emerging works with schools, universities and colleges to support final year fashion design students in building their public profiles and showcasing their work to Australia’s expansive media network.
For journalists, stylists and the fashion industry-at-large the campaign provides a unique opportunity to discover Australia’s most talented new designers in one central, online location.
Now in its third year the digital showcase will feature collection imagery from more than 100 of the top final year students from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology [RMIT], TAFE Fashion Design Studio, Queensland University of Technology [QUT], University of Technology, Sydney [UTS], The Whitehouse Institute of Design and Billy Blue College of Design.
Icaro Ibanez-Arricivita, Design Lecturer, QUT: “The campaign was an amazing success for our students last year, both in terms of exposure and a sense of excitement amongst them all. Flaunter gives students the ability to expand their audience at a critical period – I jumped at the chance to be involved again.”
An industry panel has also been formed and each member will select their ‘Top 5 Faces to Watch’. These will be announced from Monday 11th December, 2017.
2017 Flaunter Emerging Judging Panel
Anna Plunkett, Romance Was Born, 2016 Guest Judge: “We know what it’s like to start out, so we love to support up and coming designers. Luke and I haven’t had the experience of working for other brands before so we rely a lot on our instincts when it comes to design. For us it’s about providing some insight into our business so we can help young designers understand their own brand DNA.”
Natalie Choi, 2016 graduating student, UTS: “After being selected by Romance was Born as one of their Top 5 Faces to Watch in Flaunter’s 2016 showcase, I got the opportunity to intern for them. Working with Anna and Luke on their most current collection and at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia was an eye-opener and an incredible experience.“
All 2017 emerging profiles are now available to view online. View and download an edit of candidates from this year’s showcase here.
