The 2025 A/W Edit: Layers, Luxe & All Things Bold

It happens every year — just as the seasons change, so do the fashion trends. The items everyone obsessed over last year just don’t have the same pull anymore. The floor becomes the wardrobe as everyone scrambles to find something to wear, frustratingly uttering that infamous line: “I have nothing to wear!
As media professionals, staying ahead of the trend curve is part of the job. But in a world where styles cycle faster than ever, it’s not just about what’s trending - it’s about what’s worth talking about.
With sustainability front of mind, the pieces we spotlight this season need to do more than turn heads. They need to last. That’s why the brands featured in this guide aren’t just winter-ready - they’re built to survive the trend-washing machine. Think quality, conscious design, and style that doesn’t expire when it heats up.
So, from the colour palette of the season to the resurgence of boho chic and double denim, here are the trends of the season, and the brands that not only fit them - but elevate them.
Cold Front, Bold Palette
As Australian winter falls after that of America and the UK, we often get a preview of what’s to come. If the FW25 Fashion Week runways are anything to go by, we’ll be seeing a wave of bright colours making their way into our wardrobes. Whilst winter usually calls for muted, darker tones, this season has seen striking pops of colour take centre stage — bold pinks, punchy yellows, and our personal favourite, fiery red.
And if those shades feel too daring to be the main feature, don’t worry, they work just as well in small doses. Incorporate them into any outfit, as a fun and hot accessory - think a bright pink mini bag or bold red sunglasses. These playful pops of colour add just the right amount of energy to your winter wardrobe without overpowering it.

Prints That Pop, Even When It’s Cold
With the weather finally (actually) starting to get chilly, let’s not leave the pretty florals behind… I mean, why should Summer have all the fun? As the colours of the season shift toward brighter and more unexpected tones, this doesn’t have to mean just bold block colours. It’s time to lean into bright florals, statement stripes, and all things unapologetically fun. This winter, embrace playful pairings, layer up your prints, and let colour take centre stage - because when it comes to dressing for the season, more really is more.

Back to Boho
As we all sat back and watched everyone attend Coachella this year, there was one thing that everyone seemed to be feeling… a sense of yearning. But it wasn’t for this year’s festival, or even the one before. It was for the peak Coachella era of the 2010s. Maybe it’s nostalgia for a simpler time, before the whirlwind of the past five years. Or maybe it’s something else — the longing for the Coachella era defined by boho.
Thankfully, Boho Chic is having its moment in the spotlight. Those flowing fabrics, spirited silhouettes, and intricate lacing are expected to be front and centre this winter. We’ve already seen the resurgence making its way back in the form of suede and a chic camel colour palette, but there’s way more where that came from. Double denim moments, midi skirts, and statement studded belts… it’s time to Google Sienna Miller for some style inspo.

Double Down on Denim
Speaking of double denim, we think it deserves a moment of its own. We never stopped loving it, but it is crazy to think that there was a period where the statement, ‘you can’t wear denim on denim’ was uttered by a few. And aside from the fact that it looks amazing and effortlessly chic, a double denim set is one of the most versatile wardrobe options. Unbuttoned, buttoned, layered, with a boot, with a heel, with a sneaker, oh and don’t even get us started on a double denim jacket and skirt combo.
With sustainable fashion at the peak of everyone’s minds, a quality denim set is a wardrobe staple that will remain relevant for years to come. When the cycle’s inevitably roll around and head full circle, if denim on denim becomes ‘old school’ again, we can all pretend we never participated…we hope that doesn’t happen though.

Details That Pop
Carrying on from summer is the two-toned, mixed-metals trend everyone’s been obsessing over. While a year ago this concept may have seemed clashing or even fashionably forbidden, it’s now become the ultimate symbol of effortless cool. Experiment with different tones and sizes - silver stacked with gold, big chunky rings with dainty bracelets. And it’s not just metals getting the remix treatment - colour is having its moment too. Accessories and shoes are going bold, playful, and unapologetically vibrant. From metallic heels to pink handbags, accessories that pop are the easiest way to inject personality into a look. Don’t be afraid to clash shades, mix textures, or let one standout piece do the talking. This winter, we’re all about fun and dopamine dressing.
