“With a background in media and marketing and a love for writing and photography, creating a space to share my favourite beauty products and tips was an obvious choice.

Since launching Beauty Space in 2018, the demand for Australian beauty has only grown, offering the perfect opportunity to highlight some of the incredible brands coming out of this region.

Beauty Space has become a resource for beauty lovers worldwide for reviews, product roundups, how-to guides, releases and beauty news.

Here’s a look behind the scenes at Beauty Space and how I work with brands.

Content Planning

Like any publisher, I work towards a yearly plan, creating a mix of evergreen content and seasonal key events. More recently, I have focused on creating content to cover the latest beauty trends on TikTok and Pinterest from understated skin, preppy skincare and ‘Botox in a bottle’.

However, flexibility is key in my planning process, allowing me to respond to beauty news, campaigns, and new product launches from PRs and brands.

Content Creation

It's no secret that visual content is crucial in digital media. Fortunately, this is one aspect of content creation I find most enjoyable.

I love to capture and create unique imagery of the products I am reviewing to fit into the aesthetic of Beauty Space.  This highlights why the packaging and branding of a product are so important. We want something that works… and looks pretty on your sink side!

Access to high-quality e-commerce images from brands allows me to create different forms of media to use in my articles and social. Pinterest has a huge audience for beauty lovers and the ‘mood board’ style pins work well.

Working with Brands and PRs

After years of building relationships with PRs and brands, here are some key things for a successful collaboration:

  • Early Information: Providing details about upcoming launches or campaigns early on (under embargo) allows me to prepare content in advance, ensuring timely and comprehensive coverage.

  • Affiliate Programs: Being upfront about affiliate programs, including details about networks and compensation rates allows me to better assess the opportunity.

  • Expert Commentary: Let me know if the brand can provide quotes and commentary from an expert or brand advocate to provide a unique perspective and more credibility to the content.

  • Diverse Retail Links: When it comes to beauty products, expect a publisher to provide multiple places to shop for the product at major retailers as well as the brand's site.

  • Performance Reports & Placements: Ask the publisher for any performance reports or exposure placements. Sometimes I will feature a brand or product in my weekly newsletter or a social post which a PR or brand may not have visibility into.
