And an appreciation for tablescaping—for designing a layout people will truly enjoy—makes the experience all the more special. For Georgia Collias, these passions grew into a brand, and eventually, a full‑time career.

Inspired during the lead‑up to a Friendsmas lunch hosting 50 people, Georgia was on the lookout for disposable plates that didn’t compromise on style. But when the market offered nothing beyond the plain, flimsy or uninspired, Georgia took matters into her own hands, and Platefully Yours was born.

What began as a simple desire to elevate gatherings without sacrificing convenience quickly evolved into a fast‑growing business. Now with over 30 curated sets designed to make hosting effortless all year round—including seasonal favourites and special holiday editions—Platefully Yours continues to redefine what disposable tableware can be.

In this interview, we sat down with her to dive into all thing's creative inspiration, the art of hosting, and how she’s redefining disposable tableware through sustainability.

Hi Georgia, thank you so much for joining us! To start, could you please tell us about your role at Platefully Yours!

I am the founder of Platefully Yours. I started this for my love of tablescapes, and it has now evolved into a full-time job faster than expected. I also work as an engineer part-time whilst raising two young children. Sleep really isn’t a thing anymore!

We’ve heard Platefully Yours was born during a Friendmas lunch in 2023 - what happened that day that sparked the idea to create stylish, disposable tableware?

On the lead-up to hosting a Friendmas lunch for 50 of our nearest and dearest, I was looking for disposable plates as I didn’t want the hassle of washing up. I wanted to have all the tables set beautifully when everyone arrived, but everything I found was either plain, flimsy, or not appealing… and hence, Platefully Yours was born.

Platefully Yours is all about creating beautiful tablescapes with ease. How do you balance style, functionality, and sustainability in your products?

To achieve the perfect balance of quality and design, I spent a year collaborating closely with our manufacturer to develop our custom plate sets. During this process, we tested countless samples across different materials, thicknesses, shapes, and style, ensuring each piece was as enjoyable to dine from as it was beautiful to display. Every detail was thoughtfully considered, and I’m proud that our disposable products are completely plastic-free and made to be 100% disposable, without compromising on style or sustainability.

How do you approach creating disposable tableware that feels special and Instagram-worthy, without being wasteful?

I wanted to create tableware that people could feel good about using. Something that looked beautiful enough to share and celebrate with but didn’t create unnecessary waste. I design each piece with care, focusing on simple, timeless details that elevate any setting. Everything disposable we provide is plastic-free and fully recyclable, so it feels special without losing sight of what matters most, letting you enjoy the moment whilst leaving a lighter footprint.

Your mission emphasises the memories and moments created around the table. How do you see Platefully Yours enhancing the experience of hosting?

For me, hosting is all about connection—bringing people together and creating moments that feel effortless and memorable. Platefully Yours was designed to make that easier. Our sets take the stress out of setting the table, so hosts can focus on the experience rather than the cleanup. The pieces are coordinated to look beautifully put together without much effort, helping any gathering feel special, whether it’s a backyard lunch or a milestone celebration.

What are your go-to tips for creating the perfect tablescape? What are your personal must-haves?

I think the best tablescapes are simple and inviting. I like to start with a colour theme and add a few touches like candles, flowers, or other table decor to bring it to life. I often mix our paper sets with things I already have at home, like rattan placemats or a colour-full tablecloths. My must-haves are flowers, yummy food, and our matching plate sets — they make everything look put-together without much effort.

With over 30 unique sets, how do you come up with the themes for each collection, and what’s your design process behind bringing them to life?

Each collection starts with a feeling or moment I want to capture, whether it’s a relaxed afternoon lunch, a festive celebration, or something timeless and classic. I find inspiration in everyday life, from colours, textures, and little moments that make gatherings feel special. From there, I spend countless hours designing different patterns, popular styles, and seasonal holiday themes until everything feels just right. It’s a lot of trial and error, but that’s part of the fun, seeing an idea come to life as a set that people can actually gather around and enjoy.

I can imagine this is a tough choice, but do you have a favourite collection so far? If so, what makes it stand out or special to you?

I am always torn between Aegean Dreams and Cala-Breezy. Aegean Dreams was the first set I ever designed, so it holds a special place in my heart. My first vision when starting Platefully Yours was to design a set that looked like fine china, and Aegean Dreams truly captures that original vision.

What’s next for Platefully Yours? How do you envision the brand evolving in the future?

Next on the cards for Platefully Yours is becoming a one-stop shop for the entire tablescape, including paper placemats, place cards, and table décor. I have big plans for the year ahead, and my vision for the brand is growing quickly. One of my main goals is to expand further into retail and continue building awareness that premium, beautifully designed disposable products do exist, and they can make any occasion feel special.
