Euro Summer Called… Australia Answered.

Now that Australian summer is on the horizon, we’re taking a few notes from the other side of the world. Some of the trends we spotted overseas are already creeping into Aussie style, and we’re pretty sure we’ll be seeing a lot more of them once the weather warms up.
There’s always something about Euro Summer that makes us want to rethink our entire wardrobe. This year, it was the little styling details as much as the big trends, from the two hit colours of the season, fun accessories, and easy slip on sandals.
The colour crushes of the season
After dominating European holiday wardrobes, coral and aqua are making waves as they head into the Aussie Summer. Emerging as two of the season’s standout shades, these bright, playful tones are set to bring a fresh burst of colour to summer dressing. From beachside staples to everyday looks, it’s shaping up to be a seriously colourful season.
Already hinting at the trend across some of Australia’s most loved brands over the past few months, coral and aqua have been popping up everywhere across collections from Mode Mischief, Archies Thongs, Sir the Label and One mile. From statement baby tees and accessories these shades are proving they can work across more than just holiday dressing. With the European fashion scene now embracing the colour duo and Australian brands already given us a taste of what’s to come, coral and aqua are shaping up to be two of the shades to watch this Australian Summer.
From the Dolomites to Down Under
One of the most defining trends of Euro summer is making it’s way back to Aussie shores, the head scarf. Tied beneath the chin, wrapped loosely around the head or styled with oversized sunglasses, the accessory adds an instant polished feel to even the most simple summer outfit. Seen recently on celebs like Kendal Jenner and Kaia Gerber the trend European style is already beginning to filter into local wardrobes back in Aus.
Seen on Isabella Procida while exploring the Dolomites, the headscarf was the finishing touch to an effortless chic European summer look, now the trend is already taking hold here, with Australian influencer Karla Poot repping the style as we head towards the warmer months. From mountain escapes to Australian beach days, the head scarf is proving to be one of those small accessories that can instantly elevate a summer look.
Thongs Beyond The Beach
Thongs had a bit of a moment over Euro Summer, and not just by the water. Bright pairs were being worn with linen pants, denim, oversized shirts and simple summer dresses, making them feel just as much a part of the outfit as the rest of the look.
They also made a lot of sense for travelling. Instead of packing a pair of sneakers for walking, sandals for dinner and something else for everything in between, thongs could pretty much cover it. They’re easy to throw on, take up barely any room in a suitcase and, in the right colour, can completely change a simple outfit. Cherry red, baby blue and butter yellow were some of the shades that stood out, particularly against white, beige and other neutral pieces.
It’s a trend that could easily translate into Australian summer. We’ve never really needed an excuse to wear thongs but seeing them styled this way gives the everyday summer staple a slightly different feel. They can work just as well with denim shorts and a tee as they can with a linen set or a loose, flowy dress. So, while the beach will always be their natural home, this summer they’re likely to be getting a lot more wear.
