Designed for modern living, Melbourne-based brand Satara creates furniture that balances refinement with ease. Grounded in quality craftsmanship and natural materials, the brand’s collections are shaped by global influence and interpreted through a relaxed Australian lens, with comfort and longevity at their core.

This week, we sat down with Maddison, Digital Marketing Coordinator at Satara, to talk through the launch of the brand’s latest release, the Mosaic Collection.

A study in layering and considered design, the Mosaic Collection reflects Satara’s evolving approach to modern Australian interiors. Drawing on global inspiration and grounded in natural materials, the range explores how texture, form and function come together to create spaces that feel both refined and lived‑in.

From materiality and global inspiration to the evolving Australian interiors landscape, Maddison shares insight into the collection’s layered design story and what’s next for Satara.

Let’s dive in!

Hi Maddison, thanks so much for taking the time to chat with us. Congratulations on the launch of Satara’s Mosaic Collection - to start, can you tell us a little about yourself and your role at Satara?

Thank you, it’s so exciting to see the collection come to life. I’m Maddison, the Digital Marketing Coordinator at Satara. I work across our digital channels, from email marketing and social through to campaign rollouts, helping translate each collection’s design story into something our audience can connect with. A big part of my role is bringing that narrative to life in a way that feels both inspiring and accessible, while also driving engagement both online and in-store.

The Mosaic Collection is such a considered and expansive range - what inspired it, and how did the concept come to life?

The Mosaic Collection was inspired by the idea of layering - of materials, textures and forms - to create something that feels both cohesive and expressive. Much like a mosaic itself, each piece contributes to a broader composition. The collection draws on a mix of global influences, reinterpreted through a relaxed Australian lens, resulting in a range that feels refined yet effortlessly livable.

With so many beautiful pieces, do you have a personal favourite that really captures the essence of the collection?

The Bel Air Side Table in matte ivory travertine is a standout for me. It’s understated yet sculptural, and really embodies the balance we aimed to achieve with this collection. The natural stone introduces a beautiful sense of texture and softness, while the clean form keeps it feeling modern and versatile across a range of interiors.

Materials play a huge role in this collection - can you talk us through the key materials and how they shape the overall feel of the Mosaic range?

Materiality sits at the core of the Mosaic Collection. We’ve leaned into natural elements such as timber and stone to bring warmth, depth and authenticity into each piece. The interplay between these materials creates a layered, tactile experience within a space — one that feels both grounded and elevated. It’s this balance that allows the collection to feel timeless, while still offering a sense of individuality.

Did Satara explore any new or unexpected materials/ finishes in this collection?

Yes, one of the key evolutions within this collection has been the introduction of marble. It adds a refined, almost sculptural quality to certain pieces, elevating the overall offering while still complementing the existing palette of natural materials. It’s a subtle shift, but one that brings a new level of sophistication to the range.

If you could collaborate with or see Satara styled by any interior stylist, who would be your dream choice?

I’d love to see the collection styled by Tali Roth. Her approach to interiors, particularly her use of layering and texture, aligns beautifully with the Mosaic Collection. I think she would really bring out the warmth and depth of the materials, creating spaces that feel both elevated and effortlessly livable.

What’s currently on your desk - and can you share any hints about what’s to come for Satara?

At the moment, it’s a mix of campaign planning, content development and upcoming launches. We’re always working a few steps ahead, so there’s a lot happening behind the scenes. While I can’t share too much just yet, we’re continuing to build on this direction with new pieces that further explore materiality and form.

For someone discovering the collection for the first time, how would you recommend bringing these pieces into their home?

I’d suggest starting with a key anchor piece — whether that’s a sofa, coffee table or an occasional chair — and building the space out from there. Because the collection has been designed with cohesion in mind, it lends itself to layering. Mixing materials and textures will help create a space that feels considered, but still relaxed and personal.

How do you see Australian interior design evolving right now, and where does Satara sit within that landscape?

There’s a clear shift towards more relaxed, textural interiors that prioritise natural materials and longevity over trend-driven design. Spaces are becoming more personal and lived-in, while still maintaining a sense of refinement. Satara sits comfortably within this evolution, offering pieces that are versatile, elevated and designed to integrate seamlessly into everyday living.

And finally, whose home would you love to see styled with Satara pieces?

I’d love to see Satara pieces styled in the home of Jennifer Garner. Her approach to interiors feels warm, grounded and effortlessly elegant - qualities that align beautifully with the Mosaic Collection. It’s easy to imagine the pieces sitting naturally within her space, enhancing that balance of comfort and understated sophistication.
